Notes:
This park was dedicated in 1986 as part of Baytown’s Texas Sesquicentennial celebration. It features a statue of Ashbel Smith, one of the city’s early settlers and leader for advancement of education in Texas. A concrete state of Texas marker is here with a "Republic of Texas Plaza" plaque. A concrete marker with a round plaque designates "Texas Sesquicentennial Baytown, Texas 1836-1986" erected by Kiwanis Club. Also located at the site are the 1896 Wooster School and the 1910 Brown-McKay House. The park is the site of two annual festivals sponsored by the Bay Area Heritage Society.
