This structure was built by O. C. Bailey and his father, to serve as the Katy Bank, a privately owned bank which opened in 1914. On June 1, 1920 the Katy State Bank received its charter and eventually bought out the Katy Bank in 1922. Original stockholders of the Katy State Bank were C. L. Baird, Elmer Bennett, J. A. Bartlett, Frank Stuart, L. G. Tucker and J. M. Stewart. In 1932 the Katy State Bank was sold to the Citizens State Bank of Houston. (1986)
