McDonald report of 1989 notes no marker at this location; Trevia Beverly provides, per Heritage Society website, "San Felipe Cottage. This simple six-room house was built in 1868 at the southwestern edge of Houston on the old San Felipe Road. The house was built by German immigrants. It has been restored as a typical Texas cottage of the 1870s. The house was added to the park in 1962."

The Heritage Society at Sam Houston Park notes: The 1868 San Felipe Cottage is an example of the vernacular architecture of Houston’s German population of the late 19th century. Originally located at 313 San Felipe Road, the structure was moved to Sam Houston Park in 1962.
