Houston , 77006
Notes: D.R.T. marker, information & photo provided by Anita J. Cooper via David Pomeroy, Nov. 28, 2008; re-dedicated Oct. 2005; NOTED by Cooper: I received an email from Mr. Rick Forest concerning a missing Texas History plaque at Woodrow Wilson Elementary in Houston; I contacted the school. It had been moved during some construction. They assured me that it would be reinstalled. Here’s the reason for the name of the school from their website: "Woodrow Wilson school has the distinction of being built on the location of the home of Mirabeau Lamar, and being named after the 28th President, Woodrow Wilson. These two distinctive, great leaders were similar in many respects. They were great in mind and spirit, vision and courage and in their devotion to their country--its struggles and its pains. They were men of immense intelligence and energy, and they made public life their career."
