Corretions/New Research: City of Katy plaque: This home was built in 1898 by Edward Everhart and sold to David Wright on July 24, 1899. It was located at 814 East Avenue. Mr. Wright was an early pharmacist, in 1906 he installed the first telephone lines in Katy from this house to the home of the doctor and the drug store. The house has been extensively remodeled twice. Three generations of the Wright family lived in this home. In 1991 it was donated to the Katy Heritage Society by Fred and Roberta (Wright ) Rylander. The house was moved to Katy Heritage Park in 2003.

Marker Text: Sesquicentennial text: This home was built in 1898 by Edward Everhart and sold to David Wright on July 24, 1899. It was one of the two homes in Katy to escape damage during the 1900 hurricane. After David Wright's death, his son, J. H. Wright, continued to live in the home with his mother. Mr. Wright was an early pharmacist in Katy. He also installed the first telephones in Katy from his home to the Stewart and Wright Drug Store and to the home of Dr. J. M. Stewart. Three generations of the Wright family have resided in this home. In 1957 the home was moved to its present location. Descendants of the Wright family still own it. (1989)
